Dr. Dhanendra Singh

Dr. Dhanendra K. Singh has recently joined the Sharda School of Humanities and Social Sciences, Sharda University. Prior to this, he served as Assistant Professor at the Centre for Climate Change and Water Research, Suresh Gyan Vihar University, Jaipur, from September 2022. He teaches courses in Environmental Studies, Geosciences, Geoinformatics, Disaster Management, and Natural Hazards across PhD, postgraduate, and undergraduate programmes.

He earned his PhD in Geography in 2022 from Hemvati Nandan Bahuguna Garhwal University in collaboration with the Indian Institute of Remote Sensing, ISRO, Dehradun, focusing on glacier dynamics and climatic variability in the Eastern Dhauliganga Basin, Uttarakhand. He also holds an M.Phil. in Earth Science, a PG Diploma in Remote Sensing and GIS, and an M.A. in Geography. He qualified UGC NET in Geography in 2016 and is currently pursuing an M.Sc. in Geoinformatics from IGNOU.

Dr. Singh’s research interests include cryosphere studies, climate change and sustainability, disaster management, geoinformatics, wetland dynamics, and urban land use and climate interactions. He has extensive Himalayan field experience, including glacier surveys and hydrological data collection in regions such as Gangotri and Satopanth. His work has been published in reputed journals including The Geographical Journal and Environmental Earth Sciences, and he has presented at major national and international conferences.

With strong expertise in geospatial technologies such as ArcGIS, ERDAS IMAGINE, QGIS, ENVI, and SNAP, Dr. Singh actively contributes to glacier and polar research. He is also associated with APECS and the Indian Polar Research Network, supporting collaborative research initiatives in cryosphere and climate science.

He attended a three day Training Programme on “Flash Floods and GLOFS Risk Reduction at Vulnerable Locations along Mountain River Basins” held from 29 to 31 October 2025 at the National Institute of Disaster Management, Government of India, Rohini Campus, Delhi.

He also initiated the IIRS ISRO Outreach Programme in the Geography domain, under which Sharda University was recognized as a Nodal Centre for the outreach programme in the month of September.
